Consultation

We look at your skin tone, your hair color and thickness, and the area you want treated. Medical history and current medications are part of that. You leave knowing whether laser is right for you.

Test patch and settings

Laser settings are matched to the assessment rather than to a fixed protocol. The practice selects the approach based on the skin concern, treatment area, and overall goal.

Your session

We work across the area in sections. The laser energy is drawn to the pigment in the hair and travels down to the follicle, which is what stops it producing new hair.

The series

Hair grows in cycles, so each session reaches only the follicles active at that moment. How many you need depends on your skin, your hair, and the area. Most people top up occasionally after that.

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair and carried down to the follicle. That limits the ability of the follicle to produce new hair. Only follicles in an active growth phase respond, which is why treatment is done as a series.

Is it permanent?

What you get is a lasting reduction: most of the hair in the treated area stops coming back, and what does return is finer and sparser. Not every single follicle is gone forever, which is why the term is hair reduction rather than removal. Occasional maintenance keeps it where you want it.

How many sessions does it take?

The number of sessions depends on the skin, the hair, and the area treated. Many patients benefit from a series of treatments, followed by maintenance sessions as needed. The expected range for a specific area is discussed at the consultation.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe it as a warm snap against the skin, over in a second. A cooling tip runs against your skin through the whole session, which takes the edge off. Some areas are more sensitive than others, and we work at a pace that suits you.

Does it work on every skin tone and hair color?
